For nearly two decades, U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary Cape May Flotilla 08-02 has presented the Seamanship Award to the deserving graduating recruit from U.S. Coast Guard Training Center Cape May.
The Seamanship Award is presented to the recruit who demonstrates the highest degree of proficiency during the Seamanship phase of training. Each recruit receives a Marlinspike Rigging Knife in recognition of their achievement.
The Cape May County Coast Guard Community Foundation has partnered with the U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary Flotilla 08-02 in Cape May to purchase the knives for the weekly Seamanship Award.
