The Backpack Brigade Program helps active-duty Coast Guard families prepare their school-age children for the new school year. Operated by the Foundation, the program provides school supplies and backpacks to help ease the cost of back-to-school preparations.

The Backpack Brigade Program is made possible through the support of VFW Post 5941, Dollar Tree Inc., generous donors, our wonderful volunteers, Hilda and Joe Orlando, and Big Top’s Surfin’ Sundaes.

The program is open to the school-age children grades Pre-K to 12 of families who either reside in or are stationed in Cape May County. This program is also available to families PCS’ing to Cape May County this summer as well as children who participate in a Homeschool Program.

Families are invited to stop by, pick up their supplies, and enjoy a sweet treat. The event is held at the corner of Pennsylvania & Pittsburgh in Cape May from 12–1:30 p.m.
