The Foundation’s Backpack Brigade Program helps active-duty Coast Guard families get their school-age children ready for the new school year by providing essential school supplies and easing back-to-school costs.

On Friday, July 3, we were honored to be recognized at the Berkson family’s Fourth of July and America’s 250th celebration in Stone Harbor.

Their gathering brought in school supplies and donations for the Backpack Brigade, helping our local Active-Duty Coast Guard families start the school year prepared.

Thanks to their generosity, Coastie kids will head back to school in September feeling supported, equipped, and ready to learn.

Thank you to the Berkson family and friends for turning a holiday celebration into meaningful support for those who serve our country.

This program is also generously supported by Dollar Tree Inc., our wonderful volunteers, Hilda and Joe Orlando, and Big Top’s Surfin’ Sundaes. ANCHORS UP!!

The program is open to the school-age children grades Pre-K to 12 of families who either reside in or are stationed in Cape May County. This program is also available to families PCS’ing to Cape May County this summer as well as children who participate in a Homeschool Program.
